Strategic Positioning

During slavery, some of the enslaved, particularly those associated with the “big house” were given small plots of land, rudimentary education, the leftover clothes of the elites, and overall, a better material status than other slaves. I would not describe them as “free”, just strategically positioned to be useful, which is a different thing entirely. The issue in this day and time, for those of us who find ourselves positioned thusly, is whom we will decide to be strategically useful TO, ourselves, the people, or others.
